The Park Hotel Vitznau, in the heart of the Lucerne canton, is the ideal place for a moment of peace, luxury and beauty. I will remember it indefinitely. Everything is made with taste in this Swiss jewel! From the kindness of the welcome to the gentle cares at the Spa with La Prairie treatments, everything felt incredibly under control. And I do not forget the perfection of the room and the quality of the different meals I had the chance to taste. Perfectly located, the hotel was also the occasion of beautiful escapades in the amazing Swiss nature. Invigorating!
A magical place
Switzerland does not lack luxury hotels (I have many more on my bucket list). The Park Hotel Vitznau is definitely one of those jewels. I was so happy to spend a few days there and it ended up being an incredible Wagnerian symphony! The composer’s house, turned into a museum, can be visited a few kilometers away from the hotel. At the foot of the mythical Rigi, the highest point of the region, the hotel is on the waterfront of Lake Lucerne. You can therefore imagine the incredible contrasts of the landscapes. A staggering beauty, just like the hotel…
Indeed, what impresses the most is the building itself. It is imposing and immaculate. This 19th century residence has been sublimely restored and reopened only 4 years ago. It honors history while emphasizing the most avant-garde of designs. Upon entry, everything you will experience inside will be enchanting.
A professional and personalized welcome
As soon as we got off our car, we were gently directed to the hotel lobby. There, we were not treated as simple customers but more as friends who came to spend a few days of rest. Check in could wait, our butler preferred to show us the majestic lobby. And, to make all of this even friendlier we were not given a key for the room. As soon as we approached it, thanks to a chip, the door would open automatically. A gadget that adds to the unique, delicate and relaxing character of the place!
A suite with melodious musical notes
Our room, or should I call it our suite, is perfectly decorated in shades of white and reveals a marble bathroom with a sensory shower! Nothing is missing; the toiletries are in number and very luxurious. The beautiful living room opens up to a large terrace which complete this wadded cocoon. It will be ours for 3 days. Add 2 glasses of champagne to welcome us and you get the picture! I then ask myself just one question: will we be able to leave our suite? Well yes, because the whole hotel is so impressive and worth discovering! The garden is perfectly maintained. The incredible contrast between green lawns and the intense blue of the lake is beautiful. Many works of art are scattered around the estate. I particularly enjoyed the imposing fountain representing a bull and a bear fighting. What’s the stake of this fight? For sure, finding out who will be the first to reach the spa!
The most beautiful and soothing spa in the world (for what I know)
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the spa. Never, had I seen a place of such beauty. It unfolds on 3 different levels. On the first floor, you will find 2 saunas, one steam room, one ice cave and one ice cold swimming pool. It was the perfect introduction, but it was far from being over!
On the second level the infinity pool offers incredible views of Lake Lucerne. Once inside you will have a hard time leaving it, maybe the 90° F water explains it… After a enjoying a jasmine tea close to the imposing aquarium wall, we went upstairs to find the beautiful marble Jacuzzi with a 97°F bubbling water.
The pleasure of all senses
Obviously, it is impossible to be in this paradise without tasting the local cuisine. We gave a try to the « PRISMA » restaurant which is more laid back than the other double starred restaurant « Focus ». We were fortunate to be sitting next to the pool overlooking the lake. The Mediterranean cuisine served here is in perfect harmony with the atmosphere of the place. We had no problem finding a pairing wine; indeed, the cellar hides over 30,000 bottles! We were not disappointed with the breakfast either. It is served at “Focus”. Part of it is buffet style, but most dishes are served at the table. Everything is absolutely delicious. It was a perfect start before going on a ride…
Discover the impressive Swiss nature
From the hotel, the view is so incredible that it makes you want to go on an excursion. So that’s what we did! And, at the Park Hotel Vitznau you just need to ask, and the hotel can provide you with a shuttle. We went to the top of the Rigi, the local pride, which rises to nearly 1,800 meters. We were not far from Lucerne either, the capital of the canton, so we took the opportunity to visit the old town which you can reach within 45 minutes by boat. It is a beautiful fortified city. Remember to visit the Lion of Lucerne, carved in honor of the Swiss guards, who died in the service of King Louis XVI!
My stay at the Park Hotel Vitznau was an enchanting and timeless moment. It was simply flawless! We obviously appreciated the beauty of the place, but also and especially the delightfully warm welcome of the team. And the Spa was simply beyond all our expectations!
