Let’s head to Lake Como, and more specifically to the beautiful and already legendary Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como. It is pretty close to Milan (about an hour drive from the airport) and only a few kilometers from the picturesque and traditional villages of Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna.
It was my first visit to this part of Italy, and I must confess, it is even more beautiful than I ever expected!
Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como is located in the village of Blevio and promises to offer an unforgettable stay in a daydreaming place. Formerly known as villa Roccabruna, it dates back to the XIX th century. The amazing building the became Casta Diva Resort & Spa until it was finally fully renovated to join the prestigious Mandarin Oriental family in 2019.
The main building is surrounded with luxurious and very graphic gardens with over 50 different trees and plants species and is right on the shores of Lake Como to offer pure elegance and authenticity.
The marble and leather bar, which gives us a fair idea of what the original smoking room used to be, the Chinese salon with a gorgeous view to the lake, everything contributes to the guests being in awe.
If the building reads neoclassical style, the quality of services is very much contemporary and matches the most demanding epicureans’ expectations.
The hotel offers a total of 21 bedrooms and 52 suites, as well as 2 private villas. Its beautiful Spa hides a Himalayan Salt cave and its pool bar are part of this show and are here for any guest seeking to dive into la dolce vita!
Mandarin Oriental Lake Como has 2 different swimming pools, one of them being the famous and unique outdoor one, literally floating on Lake Como. How about a little swim in a floating pool with priceless views of the legendary lake ?
Aria restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine with dishes mixing Italian gastronomy and fresh products. The CO. MO bar and bistro overlooking the lake is where you’ll want to share a drink while facing the sunset!
You may also want to go on a boat ride to admire the beautiful villas along the lake shores. Some of them were the shooting places of legendary movies.

Here are some of the villages and places that you must plan to see while in the area:
- Varenna
- Orrido di Bellano
- Bellagio
- Como historical center
- Menaggio
- Villa Carlotta
And if you ever stop by Milan on the way, I strongly advise you to give a try to the amazing “QC TERME MILANO”. They are luxury thermal baths right in the center of the city.
If Italy has a lot to offer. Lombardi and Lake Como are a pure jewel for the travelers. A living and tasty postcard full of colors and worthy of what we all know as la Dolce Vita!
Enjoy 🙂
