One of the best trips I have ever done in my life is that one week in the Maldives, a destination that had always had me dreaming. A dream I thought could never become true…

But by forcing destiny it eventually became reality.

After a flight of more than 11 hours (direct flight from Paris with XL Airways), you arrive in Male the capital of Maldives. There it’s a real visual shock. The capital city is concentrated ona tiny island. Once there you catch a seaplane transfer. Those with fear of flying better hold on!

After another 40 minute flight we finally got to heaven… Literally no other word could describe this place lost in the middle of the turquoise ocean. After a quick check in, some guytook us to our room on stilts at the end of a jetty. A very large room, with a private area and jacuzzi in the back. Heaven had just reached a whole new level.

First thing to do, get down the stairs at the end of the room leading directly to the ocean. There it’s like “Finding Nemo”, the fishes are incredible and colorful. You will also see baby sharks and other unlikely and completely harmless creatures.

We were on an “All Inclusive” package which allowed us to never bother about carrying money. The cocktails were available at will near the pool … an infinity one of course … (and most of all… forbidden to children!). And I will not describe the sunsets; it’s better that you see for yourself… The one on December 31st had a special taste.

This week was also the opportunity to relax: at the spa where I treated myself with a massage, but also on a sunset cruise, with dolphins that put on a show! You also can dive with manta rays at large, or go snorkeling around the island….
